Q: Can I use a non Mercer controller to operate and programme Mercer Speed Domes ?
A: Yes you can but you will need to match the telemetry protocol. Mercer Speed Domes are supplied from the factory to operate on Mercer protocol. You should change the protocol in the address cradle to match the one transmitted by your choice of controller.This will usually be PELCO P or D,remember to ensure the baud rate is set to 9600 for P and 2400 for D in the controller.
Q: How do I access the Mercer Dome menu from a non Mercer controller ?
A: Firstly the controller must have a button that is used for selecting presets. Select the preset key followed straight away by the number 9 , repeat this four times within 20 seconds. The Dome OSD menu should now appear on your monitor. Navigation around the menu and selection of entries will depend on how the manufacturer has defined the keys or joystick operation for menu navigation. Refer to the control equipment manual for guidance on how to move around the menu.
Q: Why can I not see the Dome OSD menu on my monitor ?
A: The most common answer is the Mercer Dome you are using does not have an OSD menu. Any Speed Dome code that starts AL or VL does not have a menu option therefore changes to settings are not possible. These products are known as "Lites "
